Tasmanian Offerings

Posted by Peter Schilling on March 16, 2017 at 4:30 AM Comments comments (0)

Hi everybody,

I have just returned from a five week tour of Tasmania with my wife, Sue, and a couple of close friends. I took the 4WD because I needed it for all the luggage and the car fridge (have to keep the beer cold between stops).

I just want to let you know I found Tasmanian drivers the most courteous motorists I have ever encountered. They don’t tailgate and they often pull over to let faster vehicles pass.

My mate, David, who travelled with us is a coeliac and we found most places we stopped for meals were able to provide gluten free meals for him. Even the Hungry Wombat Cafe at Derwent Bridge (between Strahan and Hobart) had gluten free choices. I can also recommend their coffee.

Also, if you like oysters a must visit is Lease 65 in St Helens. It is on the road between St Helens and the Bay of Fires. They sell pacific oysters and they are the best I have ever eaten.

Riding in Tasmania is going to be a great experience. The whole time I was there I kept thinking about riding the motorbike over the roads we were travelling on. A lot of the roads are narrow so you have to ride cautiously in some places.

Roll on October.

Ride Back to Brisbane

Posted by Andy on January 11, 2016 at 7:30 PM Comments comments (0)

Hi guys,  Just called up about bike transport and although the prices are a huge saving to the normal prices I wont be able to get my bike back for a few weeks after the journey. As it is my only mode of transport I will need to ride back to Brisbane after the event. Is anyone else looking to ride back to Brisbane or the East Coast and looking to have a traveling partner for the trip?

I think I will be playing it by ear on the ride back and have the unknown a big aspect of the adventure.   If there is anyone looking at doing the same, drop me a line so something can be organised.

Cheers,    Andy

Ride together and accommodation

Hi, I will be leaving from Sydney (Central or Suburban) for the Long Ride and looking for another rider or riders to join in the ride for a bit of company plus to share accommodation. At this stage I am a bit concerned that no mention as been made around accommodation at various stopovers. Do we book it ourselves or the organisers have a package at all locations?
